Transition

I have been handling a great deal of transitions. It's a rewarding but very time consuming aspect to the assist role. This week I discovered that the many hour spend advising, visiting and applying for a place at Ormiston for one assist student and their family, was successful. This student would not cope at her local high school and all involved were highly concerned. The visit to Ormiston was a huge success, but the application was difficult. It took up most of my advocational skills to convince the powers that be that the placement was the best possible outcome for this learner. It's jobs like this that remind me what a difference we are able to make in the assist program.
