It was clear that the day was special to all eleven of the students that the Franklin team convoyed in together via van. The younger students looking up to Arawatau as well as he gaining a sense of leadership as he confidently made use of his FM system and hearing aids, even taking time to compliment the younger boys on wearing theirs.

KDEC Sports day
Another KDEC sports day has come and gone and a fantastic day was had by all. It was fantastic to see my students gel together. For some it was the first time they had seen each other in a year, but it was clear that lasting friendships had been made a year ago at the 2013 sports day as it was as if it shad been only last week they had last seen each other. Conversations about relevant issues were immediately initiated; Arawatau being a prime example as he asked the younger boys all about their school and made queries as to the whereabouts of their teacher aide who usually accompanied them.
